When cold water dropped on a hot chimney , it breaks because the chimney contracts

When the drop falls on the glass the temperature of that parts of that glass fall.and try to shrink.since glass is bad conductor of heat. The heat reductiont takes place unequally over whole volume.so due to uneven contraction of glass over the volume.the glass gadgets get crack
