Why does the cord of an electric heater not glow while the heating element does?

property of that material is such that the watts(depending on resistance) are converted to heat. Usually it is Nickel Chromium alloy. or Kanthal.

The particles vibrate rapidly to produce heat.

But in the connecting cord it doesn't happen like that.
