Why does the earth have a magnetic field?

Almost every person believes that Earth's core creates the magnetic field around Earth.

Let me be clear, it's your misconception.

Earth's core constitutes of iron and other metals. At very high temperature, like that of Earth's core, metals lose their magnetic properties so does Earth's core , so how will be the magnetic field produced ?

Before coming to the question concerned, let's make a visit to our garage and meet our old friend : Bicycle.

Seen a Dynamo light on Bicycle? It's easy to locate, it comes in either white or red light. Do you have any idea that this little light explains something big as Earth's magnetic field?

Let's see!

When the rider pedals the bicycle the magnets inside the Dynamo light start spinning. This triggers an electric current and as the rider keeps on pedalling the current keeps on circulating ,thus making the Dynamo glow.

Now talking about Earth, the hot liquid metal near the core of Earth flows like that of magnets spinning in a Dynamo . This flow triggers electric current. Like the rider pedalling the bicycle, the Earth rotates on it's axis that guides the electric current to form magnetic field around Earth.

Hope This Helps You!

hey friend!!

we know that our universe is held by the force gravity and by virtue of this gravity we can say that magnetism come in the picture of heavenly bodies .. here a best example is our earth ,

◆Earth have magnetic field and it's very complex to understand mathematically because magnetism of heavenly bodies is complex to derive but we can assume that earth is sphere and derive some approximate information about magnetism of earth ..

=) we know that phenomenon of magnetism occurs when there is presence of " field" .

◆Field is the force acting in unit mass/charge of that body ...

===)) E = F/m or F/q

now coming to earth magnetism, the question arises here how earth produce magnetic field??

=) Earth consists of 1) crust : 2) mentle : 3) core :4) inner core

=) core is in form of liquid and it's temperature is very very high , there is no possibility of magnetism to exist.
But core is essential part for magnetism of earth .

There are two components in earth magnetism 1) crustal part , 2) core part

=) In crustal part the circulation of water above the surface creates created the field which is responsible for magnetism.

=) In core part we know that earth is rotating around it's own axis so due to this rotation creates rotation kinetic energy , this rotation kinetic energy used to flow the hot liquid inside the earth . when this liquid flow inside the earth it creates the circulation current due to which magnetic field is formed ..

Hence , net magnetic field of earth

= magnetic field due to crustal part + magnetic field due to core part
