Why does the equatorial region experience permanent low pressure? give reasons for your answer

The places near the equator receive direct rays of the Sun and hence the land gets heated at a very fast rate. Hence, the warm air over the surface of the land is light and rises up. This makes the equatorial region a low pressure area.
