Frigid zone lies on 66.5' above latitudinal height on both sides of the equator till the poles. It is known as the frigid zone as it acquires less amount of heat from the sun and is cold throughout the year. Some of the places are even covered with snow for all the 12 months. Now the earth rotates in a east west direction along with the equatorial line. Thus the sun rays fall vertical on the equator and it becomes slanting as it moves towards the pole. When the sun rays are vertical they heat up less area but the amount of heat recieved is more and when they are slanting they heat up more area but the heat recieved is very less. Thus on frigid zone the sun rays are slanting and as a result they recieve less amount of heat.
