Following are the reasons why global heat belt shifts northward in the summer:

  • During the course of Earth's revolution around the sun, the Earth's axial tilt apparently changes with respect to the Suh.
  • In summers, the axial tilt reaches its zenith exposing the northern hemisphere to direct and concentrated impact of the Suns rays.
  • The direct sun rays increase the intensity of heat and thus, it appears like the heat belt has shifted northward.
