we know light disperse due to in light different type of wave exist which refractive index is defferent . if light passed through the prism all wave present in light refracted different angle so we see all colour (wave ) disperse.but in air light doesn't change its velocity . due to in air only one medium occur , but for this phenomena minimum two medium require .

Different colours of light have different wavelengths (speeds). In air, all the colours travel at the speed of light in vaccum(3 * 10^8 m/s). Hence it does not disperse to make seven colours in air. But when this ray of light enters another transparent medium (like water), it disperses into seven colours due to difference in their wavelengths.
