Most of northern hemisphere experience winter in december due to the tilt of the sunrays towards south.

Explanation:

  • Due to the nature of the earth's rotation on its axis and the revolution around the sun, the earth angel of the axis is tilted away from the sun during the month of November and December and the sunlight is the more oblique angle to the northern hemisphere.
  • As the sunlight gets tilted away to the southern hemisphere and thus they experience summer in winter months. The winter solstice starts on 21st December and marks the maximum tilt of the sun form the north pole and this happens once in each hemisphere.
