Answer: 'I' i.e. the poet does not intrude on the boy to buy another ball because the ball which was fallen into the valley was not just a materialistick thing for the boy . Boy has attached feeling with the the ball so intruding him on and offering him money to buy another ball another ball would make the boy more sad .The poet wanted the boy to come out of his sorrow on his own so that in future the boy can face such problems easily and handle them with no worries.

The poet say,"I would not intrude on him" because now the boy is old enough to understand his responsibility. He should learn that loss is a part of life.

He doesn't offer him money because the loss of ball can't be compensate with any amount of money as his childhood memories are attached with the ball
