Why does the poet use crow and hemlock in his poem ?

The author uses crow and hemlock to denote bad luck and bad day. As we know crow is described mainly for bad luck and hemlock is a poisonous tree under which the poet is sitting. Therefore we or the readers come to know that his mood was very bad.
