the postmaster at first had a heart laugh thinking of lencho the realised the absence f faith in him which lencho had. he wishes that he has the faith of lencho who started up a correspondence with god. so in order not to shake he writer's faith in god, the postmaster wanted to reply to the letter. but after reading the letter he realised that to reply to the letter he needed more than goodwill. he collects half his salary and asks hius employess to do the sam so that they can provide it to lencho. after filling up the money in the envelope he signs only one word: god because he wanted lencho to beleive that god was the one sending the money and not the post office maste. he did not want to break lencho's faith
