why does the resistance become more in series combination?

 The total resistanceof a number of resistors in series is equal to the sum of all the individual resistances..
more current flows from the source than would flow for any of them individually, so the total resistance islower.

in series there is one way flow if current,so current have to flow through all resistors kept
so equivalent resistance in series is sum of all resistors , hence resistance becomes more in series combination of circuits..
