Answer: The shelf life of fruits and vegetables increase in refrigerator because of the following reasons :
1) Refrigerator provides very low temperature which increases the shelf life of fruits and vegetables because low temperature is not favorable for the growth of microorganisms. They require very high temperature.
2) In low temperature of refrigerator, ethylene enzyme are not formed. Ethylene enzyme is responsible for early ripening of fruits and vegetables that's why shelf life of fruits and vegetables are increase in refrigerator.
