When the air balloon is on land its size is normal due to the atmospheric pressure exerted by outer air on it. When it goes on higher altitudes, the atmospheric pressure becomes low and the air pressure inside the balloon is high. Due to this, the air inside the balloon expands and eventually the balloon pops in space.

I hope I was able to clear your doubt.
