Soap solution is known as hypertonic solution which is more concentrate than our skin cells. When the cell is put into a hypertonic solution, water spreads out of the cells by osmosis, due to lower concentration of water outside the cell. As a result, the cell shrinks. This process is known as exosmosis. When we wash clothes, exosmosis takes place in the skin cells which results in shrinkage of skin over the finger while washing clothes for a long time.
