Why does the sky appear blue even though violet has the least wavelength?

Although violet, notblue, is the color with the shortest visiblewavelength, the spectrum of light emission from the sunis not constant at allwavelengths, and additionally is partially absorbed by the high atmosphere, so thereis less violet in the light.
