sky sometimes appear to be white due to scattering of light when all the lights  all are scattered then we see the color white .
   i hope it's helps...............................^_^

kvnmurty: when all colors in the white light rays, are scattered EQUALLY, then u see white color. Or, no scattering occurs, then you see white.
pahiroy1221: ok sir
pahiroy1221: me ??
pahiroy1221: i m in 9th
kvnmurty: ok. i forgot.
pahiroy1221: no problem sir

As we know that the white light of the sun is made up of different colours. When the light enters out atmosphere, one of those colour light scatter. For example, blue which we oftenly see is due to scatterring of other colours rather than blue.Similarly in eveing there is scattering of other colors than red. When, no colour scatters, the sky appear white.

kvnmurty: it is the other way... you do not see the color which is scattered away. you ses only other colors. when other colors are scattered away, red is not scattered at sunset. so u see red color.. When blue is not scattered, red and violet are scattered, then sky appears blue. This depends on the angle of incidence of light rays, refraction that takes place, scattering that takes place in the atmospheric layers.
kvnmurty: please correct answer
