why does the temperature decrease with height although we move closer to sun

In the troposphere ,the temperature generally decreases with altitude. The reason is that the troposphere's gases absorb very little of the incoming solar radiation . Instead the ground absorbs this radiation and then heats the tropospheric aur by conduction and convection.

he troposphere gets its heat from the ground, and so temperature decreases with altitude. Warm air rises and cool air sinks and so the troposphere is unstable. In the stratosphere, temperature increases with altitude. The stratosphere contains the ozone layer, which protects the planet from the Sun's harmful UV.
