why does the water kept in an earthen lot become cool during summer

Hey friend!

The earthen pot is made up of clay which have small pores in it, giving space for the water to evaporate through it. When the water evaporates it takes the latent heat from the surrounding(inside the pot) thus making the water cool.

Water looses its temperature through small pores present in the pot. Hence in an earthen pot (matka) become cool during summer.
