Why does volt meter practically do not consume electric energy form the circuit?

THE VOLTMETER MEASURES THE POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 POINTS.AND IT DOESNT CHANGE THE CURRENT THROUGH THOSE 2 POINTS and it have very high resistance and hence it can't consume current from the circuit.
