Why does voltage increase on increasing the no. of turns of the coil in a step up transformer

When a transformer is used to “increase” the voltage on its secondary winding with respect to the primary, it is called a Step-up transformer. ... It is necessary to know the ratio of the number of turns of wire on the primary winding compared to the secondary winding.

Anonymous: Depends on where the turns are. If you are talking about a transformer, more turns on the secondary increase the output voltage; more turns on the primary reduce the output voltage.
