Answer:

The Big Chief at Washington sent word to Chief Seattle that if he would sell his land to the Whites then they would protect the tribal people from the Haidas and Tsimshians who cease to frighten the women, children and old men. In return, the Whites would also allow them enough to live in their land. The "bristling wall of strength" meaning the White mens' army will protect the weak tribal people of Chief Seattle from all possible dangers, if only he would sell his land to the Whites.

Answer:

The American city Seattle is named after him. He is especially known for his 'speech', or sometimes referred to as 'letter', delivered in 1854. This speech was a response to the American Government's land treaty to buy the native lands proposed by Issac Stevens, the Governor of Washington Territory
