Why doesn’t the laboratory thermometer have kink?

Thermometer has to measure change continuously the mercury level has to go up and down countinuously so there is no kink in a lab thermometer.

Experiments in laboratory require high precision which are meant to recorded spantaneously while a kink allows mercury to flow only upwards  but not return. So, readings would be accurate at every point of time without presence of a kink.
