Rainbow occurs when light is split and scattered into different colors due to the rain drops, and then the rainbow is formed far higher in the atmosphere, the water droplets that always are there will produce a rainbow far higher into the atmosphere and hence can't be seen.

hope these will help you....

The rainbow does not happen everytime it rains because the rainbow only appears when there are sunlight and water droplets together at the same time. due to the principle of reflection of light the rainbow appears.as we all know that there are seven colours in a sunlight.and when there are water droplets in the atmosphere these 7 colors get scatters and form a rainbow.

so it is very important for our rainbow to appear that there should be water droplets in the atmosphere with the sunlight at the same time.
