The sun exerts a force that is of the same kind which the earth exerts on us(gravitational force) Similarly all the other planets do the same due to which they are able to repel against the force of attraction of the sun, this is also the reason why planets move around in an orbit. Therefore they are able to escape the pull of the sun.
