because the leaf has cuticle which is waxy in nature and protect from infection. it is a type of epidermal tissue.

The leaves of lotus or wtr lily doesn't rot in water as they are covered with a thick layer of waxy substance called cuticle .This prevents the leaf's surface to get in contact with water n rotting is avoided
