why dont we use HCL as a cleaning agent on statue of liberty​

Cleaning the statue of liberty with acid would remove the protective copperoxide, wear away some of the coppernd leave the copper underneath exposed to more oxidation. Over time, the statue would disappear if routinely cleaned.
