why dose a doctor dips a thermometer in a liquid before use,why is thermometer kept under the tongue and what is the normal  temperature of a domestic animal and birds

a doctor dips the thermometer in a liquid to kill all the harmful microbes present on the thermometer which may otherwise transfer from one person to another. these microbes come on to the thermometer when some infectious person keeps it in their mouth. it is kept under the tongue cause a vein in our tounge will change its temperature according to the temperature of our blood. the temperature of each organism varies from one another. for cold blooded animals it will be low and for warm blooded animals it will be high
