Dronacharya had learnt about this, judged the character of Ekalavya and asked him to give histhumb as guru dakshina, so that he may become unfit for archery forever. This act is not an act driven by jealousy or excess love for his discipline

He asked him because he use to play archery very well and his teacher Dhronacharaya was jealous from him and he can't play further that's why he asked from Eklavaya for his thumb as a gurudakshana
