Plant make their food(glucose) at day time in presence of sunlight and chlorophyll.
So they take Co2 not O2 because Co2 is required for synthesis of glucose....

Here is your answer >>>

During Daytime plants carry out Photosynthesis and give out oxygen in the presence of Sunlight using Carbon dioxide, water and chlorophyll.
*************************************************************************************

The oxygen given out during photosynthesis is used to carry out respiration in plants and hence plants do not need to take oxygen from outside as oxygen is a byproduct of photosynthesis.
