nuclear fission is the joining of two nuclei to form a heavier nuclei. The reaction is either by a release or absorption of energy.Fission of nuclei with lower mass than iron releases energy while fission of nuclei heavier than iron generally absorbs energy.

The opposite occurs with nuclear fission.

Answer:

Abundant energy: Fusing atoms together in a controlled way releases nearly four million times more energy than a chemical reaction such as the burning of coal, oil or gas and four times as much as nuclear fission reactions (at equal mass).
