Hey!!

The epidermal peel is generally taken from the lower surface of the leaf because; the lower surface of the leaf has more number of stomata than the upper surface. This is because the upper surface of the leaf is continuously exposed to sunlight. If more number of stomata is present on the upper surface then the plant will tend to loose more water. So in order to reduce the rate of transpiration, the upper surface has less number of stomata than the lower epidermal surface.

(a) Why do we generally take epidermal peel from the lower surface of the leaf in dicot
plants?
(b) In the experiment to show respiration in germinating seeds what will happen if we take
boiled seeds instead of germinating seeds?

Solution:-
(a)We generally take epidermal peel from the lower surface of the leaf in dicot plants because lower epidermis have more chloroplast than upper epidermis ......So we take lower d\epidermis peel for any experiment ........
(b)In the experiment to show respiration in germinating seeds ...If we take boiled seeds instead of germinating seeds the boiled seeds will not respire because the seeds cells are already dead ...so , there will no respiring through boiled seeds instead of germinating seeds.....
