look the epidermis is the outermost layer of the plant. so; in desert plants to reduce the rate of transpiration there is a thick layer of cutin

Epidermis in desert plants have a thick layer of cutin because epidermis is present as thick waxy coating of cutin in desert plants so as to lessen the rate of transpiration and also help them to not dry.
