The Euclids fifth postulate states that the sum of two interior angles in the same side of transversal would always be 180 degrees if there are parallel to each other but when they are not parallel the sum of two angles on the same side of transversal would be less than 180 degrees. This proves that sum of co-interior angles are supplementary.
