The Fallopian tubes which are also called salpinges or uterine tubes, are tubes found in the female reproductive system that connect the female mammalian ovaries to the uterus. The epithelium lining the inside surface of the Fallopian tubes have cillia that aid in the movement of ovum(eggs) from the ovaries into the uterus.

The Fallopian tubes were discovered by an Italian physician and neuroanatomist by the name Gabriele Falloppio. He made a publication of the Fallopian tubes in the year which he discovered them in 1561, describing them as trumpet like structures.

The Fallopian tubes thus received there name from the anatomist who discovered them and their function in 1561, Gabrille Fallopio.

The name Fallopian tube was given after the name of the scientist Gabriele Fallopio.
But he did not named it so.
He called this structure uteri tuba.
Later on people named the tubes after him.
In Latin it is known as Tuba uterina.
In Greek it is known as Salpinx.
