why fire flies glow at night?

They glow in day also, but due to the sunlight we are not able to see them. During night, we can easily see them because there is less light

this phenomenon is called bioluminiscence.
When oxygen combines with calcium, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and the chemical luciferin in the presence of luciferase, a bioluminiscent enzyme, light is produced.
