A floodplain is very fertile as it is next to stream or river and due to river sediments which is deposited there. Sediments are good for plants on the flood plains

Flood plains are very fertile because a times when the river water overflows, it results in the flooding of the neighbouring areas. this deposits a layer of fine soil and other sediments at the banks of the river, which leads to fertile floodplains.
