why floods occur more frequently in the north indian rivers than in the south indian rivers

floods mostly occur in northern India .the rivers of northern India are snow fed and are perennial in nature. during the rainy season there excess of water in the rivers which floods the river.

also the northern plane receives more rainfall than the Deccan plateau
