why food does not go into wind pipe

Hey mate!!!!

Because there is flap called EPIGLOTTIS is present between the wind pipe and throat...So whenever the food bopus comes down..It closes due to the pressure applied on oesophagus wall

Hey there!

There is a cartilaginous flap like structure over the wind pipe (Trachea) called Epiglottis, which prevent entry of food into the wind pipe.

When we swallow the food, epiglottis covers the opening of wind pipe.
