Why for antilog of a negative number 1 is added and subtracted

because in antilog we can find the value of that digit that comes after the point like 0.508 and that digit should be positive.

Explanation

for example -2.508

so we will divide the digit in two parts i.e -2 and -0.508

then subtract -2 by -1

and add -0.508 by +1

so the answer will be -

3. 508

there is bar over 3 that indicates that before point there is - ve sign and after point there is + ve sign.

therefore answer will be antilog 0.508 × 10 to the power minus three.
