Mahatma Gandhi led the Dandi Salt March because tax on salt was one of the many ordeals caused to the Indians by the British. To earn more money, the British did not allow Indians to collect salt NOR make their own salt. Gandhi Ji wanted to prove to the British that the Indians won't bow down, so he marched to Dandi to pick up a single lump of salt, as a sign for all Indians to break the law and start making their own salt.
