Answer: A solid is said to be amorphous if there is no regular arrangement of its constituent particles or at the most, there is only a short range order of its constituent particles.
And thus amorphous solids have irregular shape and when they are cut with a sharp knife, they undergo an irregular breakage. They melt over a range of temperatures and do not have sharp melting points.
Glass is an amorphous solid which is super cooled liquid of high viscosity.
