Helen the ghost worked for an inspiration bureau that aimed at imprinting on minds that were soft enough to imprint. Whenever John Hallock sat down to write a story for Jenkins' newspaper, Helen would lean upon his shoulder while he was thinking and imprint ideas in his mind for his ghost plots.
Helen and some other ghosts were going on strike because they felt that they were called out of beds a little too often and that too for answering stupid Ouija Board questions. Hence they didn't get any rest and wanted to protest against it.
She asked John Hallock to get rid of all the Ouija boards used by people around him and only the would she give him a plot for his story.

Answer:

Explanation:

Helen had helped the narrator because he was keen to write ghost stories but had no ideas and his mind was impressionable. But now the ghosts were fed up of being called too often from their beds. They had given up haunting and had taken up answering questions on the Ouija board but people had started pestering them too often. Helen promised to help the narrator if he would get his friends and acquaintances to stop using the Ouija board.
