Narrator compared his grandmother with winter landscape because she hobbled about the house in a spotless white saree. Her silver locks spread over her shoulders. She was an expanse of pure white serenity . She breathed peace and contentment.

Hey there!
In this line, the author tells about her grandmother. Her grandmother was wearing the clothes of white color. She was looking like that she is being covered by a immaculate snow. Her sonnets which cannot be heard were demulcent for the winter. The author felt to look at her grandmother because her grandmother was giving him a feeling of pleasure and satisfaction. He was full of happiness and peace. So, like this feeling came to the mind of one's individual when he/she see the winter landscape. As it gives the feeling of peace and satisfaction.
Hope it helps you!
