Why hand written manuscripts could not fulfill the increased demand of books?

A manuscript is any document written by hand or as opposed to being mechanically printed or reproduce in some indirect way. The production of the handwritten manuscript could not meet the ever increasing demand for bookbecause that time people were very much interested in reading books. Andpeople demand ed more and more books.And writting of book takes very much time.so it could not meet the demands.
