why has India a rich heritage of flora and fauna???
Answers
India, a country with varied interests, has a rich heritage of flora and fauna because it lies in the torrid region, receives good amount of rainfall by trade winds or westerly disturbances, has varied geographical landforms like plateaus, mountains, rivers, etc. Because of its humid and hot weather, it supports luxuriant plant and animal growth. another reason for this is that india was discovered quite late in the 15th century by Vasco da Gama and india was away from the rest of the world. this resulted in that the people of the country lived with the nature and did not harm it for personnel profits unlike australia and other country's which were colonialised where the imperialists killed the animals there. For eg. Australia had a rich wildlife but due to interference of britishers, some of them became extinct like DODO, etc. In india, many countries like UK, Spain, portugal, France, etc. traded with different things. They also smuggled plants and animals like eucalyptus from australia. In india there are a lot of agro- activities in India as well and there's a lot of arable land and the people are very close to nature. They worship the nature and prevent harm to it!
