it's very true that common man and environmentalist have protested against the construction of dams bcoz dams has many disadvantages like:
1. It leads to major environmental problem as many trees need to cut down for construction.
2.also aquatic animals find it difficult to emmigrate and for spawning.
3. The most cruel part is that it leads to major loss to the common man as they lose their livelihoods and cattles and lands.
4.A large population needs rehabiltalaion.

There are many reasons, not one. And some are:
1. A big population may have to relocate due to the construction of dams.
2. In case of any failure, the flood can come.
3. The construction cost of dams is very high. So it can disturb the county's economy.
4. It affects the water species and their migration.
