why have major democracies in the world adopted the indirect form of democracy rather than the direct form​

some countries have adopted democratic government just to show the other countries that they are democratic, because democracy is said to be the best form of government and also the most adviced and accepted by the most of the people in the world. the countries have not adopted the direct form because they want the government to be ruled by them and have the controls and powers in their hands. if a government is not directed by the people for the people and of the people the government is not democratic neither democratic if the representative of the government is not ekected by the people.
