why here final velocity =0

because when the ball was throwing upwards the ball will go upwards and before coming downwards the ball has to be left its upward velocity, when its upward velocity will go to zero, then it will come down wards with a new velocity. once its velocity has to be zero because upward velocity and downward velocity cannot exist at the same time.
