Answer:

On the basis on the basis of magnetic measurements which are helpful in determining the electronic configuration of elements ,Hund’s put forward an empirical rule known after his name as hund's rule of maximum multiplicity.

According to this rule electrons enter the sub orbitals in such a way as to give the maximum number of unpaired electrons and these unpaired electrons have the same directions of spins.

Thus when several Sub orbitals of equal energy are available ,electrons preferred to occupy separate orbitals rather than get paired in the same orbital. This, in other words, mean that pairing begins with the introduction of second electron in s-orbital ,fourth in p-orbital ,sixth in d- orbital and eighth in f-orbital.

Sub-orbitals tend to become completely filled or half filled, since such orbitals are more stable than any other orbital. Thus we prefer to halfill the orbitals so as to get stable electronc configuration, this is known as maximum multiplicity.
